Impresiones de la base
Impresiones de la base is a series of 30 pen on paper drawings. The proposal investigates the collective as refuge, the small social group against the company, the mass, the outside.
A house, la base, as metaphor for the group. The proposal presents us with a game of furtive views of the house and it’s various parts. Images of the supposed base of an unknown individual group’s activity. A center of operations that is not a dwelling, or not only a dwelling, but functions also of a place for work and contact.

A workshop / laboratory, kitchen, dining room, bedrooms. Through a series of drawings the public become the meddlesome spectator of a private spaces, probing into the different interiors of the house. An external viewpoint that transcends walls discovering elements that tell of its occupants: work uniforms, furniture, tools - the everyday objects of each individual (as in the house of the Seven Dwarves). Filth, unbalance, order in disorder, symbols of the occupants, of the belonging to a group, of forms of organizing and of acting.

The point is not the discovery of the group’s specific occupation - neither activists nor sect members nor people involved in business activity. The base recreates the house as structure that protects the exterior while isolating and permitting activity in its interior. An autonomous and different activity. A framework for the individual just as the group so often functions as a framework for society. This reflection also sheds light upon the human relations at work under that framework, permitting communication, contribution and projection toward the outside, but that paradoxically also harbours the germ of drama, of conflict and of change. Individual rivalries and power struggles that seem innate part of human groups since the beginning of time, since the base.
